Biography
Hilda Robertson appears in the Gisborne Photo News No 252 : June 18, 1975 edition. The article reviews the 'Founders' Exhibition' which was to mark the last art exhibition of members work from the Gisborne Art Society to be held in the Art Gallery and Museum (before demolition and the erection of a new building). Included in the show were the works of local artists whose services founded the society in its earlier years (from 1948 on).

At the time of an article printed in the Gisborne Herald in July 1972, there were 17 life members of the Gisborne Artsits' Society. Five of those members were present at the unveiling of the society's life members honours board, including Syd Dodgshun, Joyce Moles, Stan Bugden, Allan Barns-Graham, John Gully and Hilda Robertson. Hilda Robertson, the most senior life member performed the unveiling of the members board.

The beginnings of the society was as a branch of the Hawke's Bay Artists' Society. Gisborne members had raised funds to buy Lysnar House and Kelvin Park and had later handed them over to the city.
