Biography
For 150 years, Hannahs has proudly provided New Zealand with high quality and great value footwear. From humble beginnings, the Hannahs story began when a young Irish cobbler, Robert Hannah, opened the first Hannahs footwear shop on January 29, 1868 in the gold mining town of Charleston on New Zealand's West Coast.

Following the gold rush, Hannah moved his business to Wellington, and opened a number of factories in the area to keep up with growing demand. His reputation for providing quality footwear at affordable prices was well recognised and is a promise upheld to this day.

The original Hannahs factories have since been turned into residential apartments while the Hannahs business, boasting 50 stores across the country, is still based in the Wellington region with its head office in Porirua.

With a longstanding history in New Zealand for over 150 years, Hannahs today stocks quality international brands such as Clarks, Hush Puppies, Steve Madden and Keds for men, women and children as well as a wide selection of footwear for all occasions through well-known local brands such as Pulp, Noir and Euro Pulp which take on-trend, international influence catered to the New Zealand market.

So whether you're looking for your child's first pair of shoe or booties, everyday styles for work and the weekend; or are investing in a pair of premium, handcrafted shoes made in the world's leading shoemaking factories, you'll find a wide range for all occasions at Hannahs, trusted for 150 years.
