Biography
I am an innovative artist and teacher with wide experience in the Middle east, Australia and New Zealand. I have exhibited in New Zealand and overseas since 1974 and created "round paintings" a format of a stretched canvas over a circular aluminium support in 1987. My artistic expression includes a variety of media from digital paintings, traditional drawing, pastels, gouache, acrylics and oil painting. My styles also vary from the conventional to the abstract, whatever suits my mood at the time. I attended Otago School of Art, Dunedin, New Zealand between 1976 and 78 and majored in art history after first starting my art training at the RMIT in Melbourne, Australia in 1973. I am currently working as an artist and teacher in Nelson, New Zealand teaching acrylic painting, life drawing, oil painting and portraiture. I also lead a new art group in Nelson called the Tasman Art Squad which specialises in creating art in public spaces. TAS aims to help the public understand the role of the artist in society by directly viewing them in action in the public arena on a regular bases.
