Edison phonograph, post 1916, upright oak case. The case has three sections. The upper part, which has a hinged lid, where the record wheel and arm are housed. Painted on the interior of the lid above the hinge is: "Edison". A metal badge affixed to the top of the interior of the proper right side next to the record wheel is: "TRADE MARK / Thomas A Edison / EDISON DISC PHONOGRAPH / PATENTED NOV. 17, 1909, JAN. 30, 1906, FEB. 4, 1908, MARCH 11, 1913, SEPT. 15, 1914, MAY 23, 1916. / C 19 SM175919 / THOMAS A. EDISON, INC., ORANGE, N.J., U.S.A."
The second middle section below the lid contains the bell speaker. The textile lined panel at the front of the phonograph is removable. A paper label printed in black affixed to the interior of the proper left side, beside the speaker bell: "22330 / EDISON / No. 18 / CABINET FACTORY / 5878".
The third and lowest section has a hinged door. Inside this section are two tiers. Each tier is fronted with vertical slats in which to place records. Two wood skirtings lined with white paper at the bottom of each tier of slats has numbers printed in black, 1 through to 36 on the top tier, and 37 through to 72 on the bottom tier.
There is a second record arm and needle. Printed in black behind glass, on the head of the area that holds the needle is: "Fletcher / REG. TRADE MARK / FLETCHER WICKES CO. / CHICAGO".
