Description
Greenstone adze/ toki found at Wairewa in 1874. Mid to light green colouration. Polished with areas with natural flaws and indented scarring (particularly down the centre of one side and down the lateral edges of the opposite side). Roughly isosceles trapezoid shaped. The blade tapers out from the poll to the blade end. The piece is almost three times longer than it is wide. There are three planes on the obverse and reverse, one is the angled plane at the blade end. There are two lateral sides and a rough side at the poll end where the piece has broken.
