Toki

Description
Greenstone adze found in 1904 at Island Bay, Wellington, on site of old stock yard. Blue/grey auhunga stone. Suspension aperture remnant in top pointed corner. Sharpened edge tapers up to a diagonally cut edge. Surface has indentations over it, particularly on one side. Has been made from an earlier artifact as there is half of a drill hole on the two extremities of the left side, suggesting that the piece has broken in the course of drilling and then the remaining fragment has been used to make a small chisel. Badly fractured on both obverse and reverse and chipped at edge.
