Kahu Kererū
Description
Kahu Kererū (feathered cloak), sequenced in the whakamumu (checkerboard) pattern. Kererū and tūī feathers. The green feathers are from the neck of the kererū, the white feathers are from the poho (chest) of the kererū. The kurupatu (neck fringe) are from the rump - just above the tail of the tūī bird.
Black and beige wool used for kaupapa (foundation), muka for aho (binding thread). Whatu aho rua used as the binding technique.
Aho poka (shaping rows) 110mm down from top edge.
Darts inserted along the top of whiri to give shaping around the neck of kākahu.
