Buttons: Twelve brass buttons and ten button clips, part of the dress uniform belonging to Murray Rider as engineer for USS Co. in the 1950s. Embossed with either the Union Steam Ship Company or Board of Trade logo. Murray recalls that the USS Co. buttons were given to employees as part of their uniform, and that the Board of Trade buttons had to be purchased separately. Board of Trade buttons could be used anywhere in the British Empire, while USS Co. buttons were only for employees of the company. Buttons could be used universally on any part of the uniform where buttons were required.
