Geological specimen: wrapped in brown paper and tied with multiple strands of string. Unopened. Attached to the package by string is a brown card label. Printed on the label in black ink is: "N.Z. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY DEPARTMENT." and handwritten in black ink is: "W. D. Lysnar Esq / Gisborne / Poverty Bay". There is a magenta coloured six pence postage stamp in the bottom left corner of the label, and it is postmarked twice in black ink with: "TRAVELLING P.O. / N.Z. / 14 DE. 09. OUT / OHINEMURI".
