Description
Boxed set of Volcanic specimens of New Zealand. Hinged cardboard box covered in textured gold paper. A label printed in yellow, black, green and red on the top of the box reads: "VOLCANIC SPECIMENS / FROM THE / THERMAL WONDERLANDS / AND ROTORUA / NEW ZEALAND". A small white paper label printed in blue on the proper left side of the box reads: "SET F36 / 36 VOLCANIC SPECIMENS" and handwritten in pencil: "30/-". On the inside of the lid of the box is a white paper label printed in blue: "SET F36 / 36 VOLCANIC SPECIMENS" and on the rim of the lid: "Mineral Specimens Ltd. / P.O. BOX 7544, WELLINGTON / NEW ZEALAND". The mineral specimens are mounted in the base of the box on a self striped cream textile. They are arranged in a grid formation, nine across and five down, with the names of the minerals printed in blue on paper strips beneath the specimens: "ATIAMURI / PERLITE 14; SPHERICAL RHYOLITE / TAUPO 12; LAKE TAUPO / IGNIMBRITE 2; RAINBOW MOUNTAIN / SILTSTONE 6; WAIRAKEI / BRECCIA 27; MT TARAWERA / LAVA 1; WAIRAKEI 5 / STEAM BORES; RAINBOW MOUNTAIN / IGNEOUS ROCK 23; KARAPITI BLOWHOLE / PUMICE15; ROTORUA 4 / GEM ROCK; LAKE TAUPO 25 / VOLCANIC GLASS; ROTORUA / CHERT 13; MT.
