Description
Boxed set of Mineral specimens of New Zealand. Hinged cardboard box covered in textured gold paper. A label printed in yellow, black, green and red on the top of the box reads: "MINERAL SPECIMENS / OF / NEW ZEALAND". A small white paper label printed in blue on the proper left side of the box reads: "SET G1 / 28 MINERALS". On the inside of the lid of the box is a white paper label printed in blue: "SET G1 / 28 MINERALS" and on the rim of the lid: "Mineral Specimens Ltd. / P.O. BOX 7544, WELLINGTON / NEW ZEALAND". The mineral specimens are mounted in the base of the box on a self striped cream textile. They are arranged in a grid formation, seven across and four down, with the names of the minerals printed in blue on paper strips beneath the specimens: "PSILOMELANE 147 / Invercargill; CINNABAR / Whangarei 49; NATIVE COPPER / Wakefield 53; HEDENBERGITE ROCK / Takaka; WOOLASTONITE / Takaka 195A; YRRHOTITE CRYSTALS / Takaka 151B; TOURMALINE / Westland 190; KAOLIN / Rotorua 109; MALACHITE / Nelson 22B; AGATISED WOOD / Southland; IRON SULPHIDE / Karamea 102; MANGANESE ORE / Southland; PIEDMONTITE SCHIST / Queenstown; DIORITE / Southland; ENSTATITE / Karamea; FLUORESCENT URANIUM / Buller 192; FLINT (GREY) / Thames 73; OBSIDIAN (BROWN) / Rotorua 131; CHALCEDONY / Thames 41; GRANITE (PINK) / Westport 90; BORNITE 33 / Nelson; KYANITE 109A / Nelson; DIATOMITE / Rotorua 64; TREMOLITE / Nelson 190A; DRUSY QUARTZ / Waihi; DOG TOOTH SPAR / Thames 65A / BANDED RHYOLITE / Lake Taupo; PYRITES / Westland".
