Argillite adze. Duff 3A adze from archaic phase, made of medium grey coloured Nelson-d'Urville Island argillite. The stone has dark grey veins. It is short with a distinct unifacial bevel and quadralateral cross section. Polished, but grip region has some hammer-dressing and residual flake scarring. Chip off one corner of cutting edge. Start of a perforation in middle of ventral surface in region of shoulder. Chip on one corner of blade.
