Argillite adze ploughed up c.1927 in Wanganui district. This is a Duff type 3A chisel, made of Nelson-d'Urville Island argillite. Finely polished on both sides but edges are rough (chipped) and no longer straight. Cutting edge badly chipped. Dark black/grey colouration. Roughly isosceles trapezoid in shape. Finely polished on both sides, but edges rough and chipped. Cutting edge badly chipped.
