Paper label glued to the back stating: "Maori axe, found by Robert David Black on Ngaio Island, Pakowhai", the piece was found at the former mouth of the Waipaoa River. Duff type 2b adze. Dark black/grey. Rounded corners. One corner of the blade is more rounded than the other. Polished but has some lightly pitted areas.
