Cup and saucer
Description
Commemorative teacup and saucer by Royal Doulton. The teacup is made of white porcelain, semi-circular shaped with a circular base of narrow diameter, thin footrim, rounded sides and a thin loop handle set to one side. The exterior body of the teacup is decorated with brown transfer print featuring a ribbon garland tied into a bow set below the rim around the mouth of the cup. Below one bow is a wreathed portrait of Richard J Seddon. The text below reads, RICHARD J SEDDON / HUMANITARIAN. Text above the portrait on either side of the bow reads, HE STOOD FOR EMPIRE. The interior rim is decorated with a brown transfer print of a laurel wreath with berries. The handle has an historical repair.

The saucer has a border of a brown transfer print of a laurel wreath with berries. The rim is gilt. The manufacturer's marks on the bases of both pieces.
