Long waistcoat in 1770s style. Machine embroidery references Captain James Cook's Pacific travels, Joseph Banks, the Tahitian Tupaia, and a Maori. Front sections are made of new undecorated Fijian tapa, lined with calico. The back is calico, is not embroidered and has a slit at the centre of the base. Two pockets: embroidered flaps and lined with calico. Ten pseudo-buttons down the front which are NZ silver 1957 6d coins and sewn to the garment via a shank welded on to the back of each. There are no buttonholes; the garment closes across the front with robust metal press-studs.
