Item formerly belonged to donor's paternal grandmother whose brother (Llewellyn, aka Len, Ernest Kite) worked on the railways as relief work during the Depression of the 1930s. Robert Shipp: Papers Past, N Z Truth, 25 Nov1926, states he had been a retailer there for 13 years.
